We’re Tom and Danielle van Leeuwen, the friendly and adventurous couple behind Casa Rodriguillo.
By 2018, we realised our connection to Spain was too strong to ignore. So we sold our house in the Netherlands, said goodbye to our homeland, and moved to Spain with our sweet Labradoodle, Donja. In 2020, we discovered Casa Rodriguillo – a neglected old house – and immediately saw its potential as a warm and sustainable place for guests to stay.
To make our dream a reality, we started a fundraising campaign. Friends and family supported us and believed in our vision. Thanks to their help, we were able to buy the house and begin the renovation, using sustainable materials and energy-efficient systems wherever we could. Since June 2023, we’ve been welcoming guests with open arms, offering comfort, sustainability, and warm hospitality at Casa Rodriguillo. It’s a peaceful retreat where people can relax, recharge, and feel at home – just like we dreamed.
OUR STORY
We grew up in the Netherlands, near Amsterdam, and have always loved travelling. While exploring Europe, we discovered our love for Spain. The sunny beaches, lively cities, and warm, welcoming people made a big impression on us. In 2014, we decided to buy a small holiday home in Spain, and over the years, it became our favourite getaway.

Donja
Our lovely dog, Donja, is a 12-year-old Australian Labradoodle known for her sweet nature and hypoallergenic coat. She doesn’t bark, doesn’t shed, and absolutely loves cuddles. Every morning, she greets our guests with a wagging tail – that’s why we affectionately call her our “animation team.”
